To nurture those entrusted to us in personal discipleship, helping every man, women and child to be fully equipped for the works of service and to have the maturity necessary to recognize and refute error.
Col 1:28-29 – We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.
We must constantly be on the lookout for those whom the Lord is raising up to be discipled. This can take place either one-on-one or in a group setting.
2 Ti 2-2 – You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
The best discipleship happens in the realm of shared ministry. We are equipped for the works of ministry as we get involved in service and discover our sin, weakness, lack of training, etc.
We desire to be a training church where each member has the opportunity to stretch themselves and grow in various aspects of ministry. This will mean mistakes and struggles but we must commit to bear with these.
Ga 6:9-10 – Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
We expend our lives by being poured into the lives of others.
Every member of the church has struggles and difficulties to overcome. Biblical counseling will help the members of the body to honor Christ in every life situation through instruction in Biblical principles, not appeals to modern psychology.
1 Th 5:14 – We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.
